Exciting News: Football Goal Posts Returning for Three-Month Trial

We’re thrilled to announce that the football goal posts will be returning to the Playing Field! After careful consideration and community feedback, the decision has been made to reinstate the goal posts for a three-month trial period, starting on March 1st.

Last year, the posts were temporarily removed due to repeated unauthorized removal, which created health and safety risks for both residents and council staff. The recurring costs associated with reinstallation also weighed heavily on the decision. However, the Playing Field Trust is committed to ensuring the space remains enjoyable for everyone, whether it’s for casual kickabouts, friendly matches, or penalty shootouts.

During this trial, the goal posts will be monitored closely. If the posts are once again taken down or damaged maliciously, the Trust will reassess the situation and consider permanent removal. We truly hope that the actions of a few individuals won’t overshadow the joy these goal posts bring to our community.
