Christmas Lantern Parade & Lights Switch On
Despite storm Darragh trying to put a dampener on the evening’s event, we are proud to say St Dennis’ first ever lights switch on did go ahead, all be it a little different than planned! The Pitch kindly stepped in generously providing a warm and dry venue. St Dennis band expertly played a rousing selection of Christmas carols, and it was great to see the hard work and creativity the pupils of St Dennis Academy put into their colourful lanterns. The stars of the show were undoubtedly Father Christmas and his jolly elves. Making it through the wind and rain, Father Christmas arrived with a fan fare of horns and flashing lights, by Stocks & Sons lorry, much to the excitement of the watching children and their families. Once Father Christmas was settled in his Grotto, each child had the opportunity to speak with the big man himself and received a selection of festive treats. One resident commented ‘It was lovely to see even the older children’s eyes light up when Father Christmas arrived, it was so magical!’. We may have all missed out of an official grand ‘Switch On’ but nevertheless the Christmas Tree sparkled with colourful lights and was thankfully still standing after a wild weekend!
The Parish Council would like to extend a massive thank you to all the residents who braved the weather to attend this special evening and to all the individuals and organisations who contributed to make the night a great success.
