From managing local assets such as parks, bus shelters, and public toilets to representing the views of residents on planning applications, and consultations, your input will have a direct and meaningful impact on the quality of life in our village and surrounding areas. Election Process
Elections for St Dennis Parish Council will take place this May, giving you the opportunity to stand as a candidate. To join the Council, you’ll need to meet some eligibility requirements:
- Be over 18 years old.
- Be a British, Commonwealth, or European Union citizen.
- Be registered as a local elector or have lived, worked, or owned property in the parish for at least 12 months.
Some restrictions apply, such as not having been declared bankrupt in the last five years or convicted of certain offences. Full details can be found at The Electoral Commission.
To stand for election, you’ll need to complete an application pack and submit it to the Registration Office. The pack includes all the instructions and key dates you’ll need to know. Once nominated, your candidacy becomes official, and you can start campaigning to share your vision with local voters. What’s Expected of a Councillor?
As a Councillor, you’ll need to attend monthly meetings, contribute to decision-making, and work collaboratively with other members of the Council to improve the parish.
